 She was told that they were cultists; that they were dangerous; that they had stolen her only cousin. She was also told to stay away. But when Rowan MacCall wakes up one day with a red jewel around her neck and no memory of how it got there, she begins to find herself inexorably pulled towards the shadowy inhabitants of Foirear House, and into a hidden society of magic and dangerous politics. In this world, Rowan finds herself confronted by both undeserved hostility and unearned respect. If she wants to find the reasons why, she'd better ask the right questions, and ask them fast - because trust in her new allies may be her biggest strength or her biggest mistake.
